Heart Attack: Don’t Ignore The Warning Signals

On 24 December 2019 .

John and their family are very busy with the preparation of Christmas celebrations.

His wife Roslin and two daughters are busy in the kitchen.

They are baking Christmas cakes.

The house is decorated with lambs and stars.

Christmas Carol group is coming to their house from the local church.

House decoration started in the early morning.

John is a middle-aged man.

He retired from the Military.

John felt back pain and gas trouble afternoon.

Started sweating profusely.

Felt a heaviness on the chest.

John ignored those all difficulties and was fully involved in the

house decoration.

Roslin requested to stop all activities and take a rest for a while.

“ Christmas comes once in a year. Nobody knows what will happen next Christmas. Let us celebrate this Christmas well”- John said to Roslin while climbing on the ladder.

This Christmas is very special to John and their family.

It is the first Christmas at their new house.

Late evening, they all had a heavy dinner with delicious food.

The next day morning, Roslin prepared bed coffee for John.

But, John did not wake up.

Roslin made repeated calls for having coffee.

No response. Roslin touched John with a shivering hand.

No breath…! No pulse…!

Roslin cried loudly.

The Coffee mug fell on the floor with a loud noise.

A massive heart attack on sleeping.

John is no more.

Did John get warning signals before a heart attack?

Yes. Several signals.

1. Back pain

2. Gas trouble

3. Sweating

4. Heaviness of chest

All those early signals were ignored by John. His wife Roslin requested to stop the decoration activity. But John was in a celebration mood. If John stopped the activity and consulted a doctor, the life story would be different.

Study says that about 50 percent of sudden cardiac death takes place due to undetected coronary artery disease.

Every cell in the body needs nourishment. The cells do not get nourishment directly from the food that we consume. At first, the food gets digested and gets absorbed in the blood, and thereafter it is made available to every cell in the body through blood circulation. The process shows the importance of blood circulation in the body.

The heart is the organ responsible for maintaining the circulation of blood in the body. The heart is a hollow organ made of muscles. It is located in the lower portion of the left side of the body below the chest.

A heart attack occurs when the flow of blood to the heart is severely reduced or blocked. The blockage is usually due to a build-up of fat, cholesterol, and other substances in the heart’s (coronary) arteries. The fatty, cholesterol-containing deposits are called plaques. The process of plaque build-up is called atherosclerosis.

Sometimes, a plaque can rupture and form a clot that blocks blood flow. A lack of blood flow can damage or destroy part of the heart muscle.

A heart attack is also called a myocardial infarction. Prompt treatment is needed for a heart attack to prevent death

Catch the Signs Early

Don’t waste precious time if you experience any heart attack warning signs. Sometimes, heart attacks are sudden and intense, but some other times, start slowly with mild pain or discomfort.

Sometimes, a plaque can rupture and form a clot that blocks blood flow. A lack of blood flow can damage or destroy part of the heart muscle.

A heart attack is also called a myocardial infarction. Prompt treatment is needed for a heart attack to prevent death. Chest pain or pressure (angina) that keeps happening and doesn’t go away with rest may be an early warning sign.

Angina is caused by a temporary decrease in blood flow to the heart.

Chest discomfort.

Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the middle of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes. It may go away and then return back. It can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain.

  • Discomfort in other areas of the upper body.

Symptoms can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw, or stomach.

  • Shortness of breath.

This can occur with or without chest discomfort.

  • Other signs.

Other possible signs include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or

lightheadedness, vomiting

Symptoms of a heart attack vary. Some people have mild symptoms. Others have severe symptoms. Some people have no symptoms.

Women may have atypical symptoms such as brief or sharp pain felt in the neck, arm, or back. Sometimes, the first symptom sign of a heart attack is sudden cardiac arrest.

Some heart attacks strike suddenly. But many people have warning signs and symptoms hours, days, or weeks in advance.

Unfortunately, most of the time, people behave in denial mode and find silly reasons — gas trouble, acidity, or indigestion. Golden hours of life- saving moments are slipped by this way.
