Do you have a book-writing plan?

Two years back, I met Jhon in a grocery store.

A 60-plus man retired from government service.

I introduced myself as an Author.

“I have also a writing plan. The plot and character are ready. Just needs to write. For the last 10 years, I have been working on it”- John said with a lot of excitement.

“10 years is a long time”- I commented.

“You did not get me properly. My book is not an ordinary one. It is a masterpiece. My book will be far better than the well-known classic novels”- He said confidently.

“ Great. I would like to read your book. Please inform me when your book is published”- I politely said.

Then 3 months later, we met in a nearby restaurant.

John and two daughters were having tea and snacks.

“Hello, Peter, come, come sit with us”- John invited me.

I hesitated at first to sit with them to respect their personal space.

However, John compelled me with a radiating smile.

He introduced me as an author to his daughters.

Those college-going girls curiously smiled at me.

“ Papa was trying to write a book when we were very small”- One of the girls said.

“ Yes, I know. Your papa is very enthusiastic about writing a book”- I replied.

After spending a few minutes with them, I left the restaurant.

Sometimes, I got phone calls from John to clear some doubts related to book writing. He shared some book titles with me.

However, He did not disclose the story of the book.

John feared that his idea would be copied by others.

“ Peter, Can I believe publishers? Do they copy my book after the rejection”- He called me late at night and asked anxiously.

“No. Not any genuine publishers will do that. Complete the book first”- I suggested.

Two weeks before I met him at a park with his dog for a morning walk.

“ Peter, I am going to start my writing in January 2024”. My plot and characters are ready. Just need to type on the computer. I will publish my first book on 26 December. That is my birthday”- John disclosed his plan with mixed excitement and happiness.

His dog barked loudly at another dog and started chasing to bite.

John hurriedly said goodbye and ran after the dog.

That was the last meeting.

Two weeks before, I got a call from John’s mobile.

“Peter uncle, Papa is no more. Heart Attack. Last night. Pray for our…”- John’s daughter shared the sad news with a broken sentence.

My mind sank with sadness.

His desire to write a masterpiece reeled in my mind like a film.

John buried with his dream book.
